Bee Safe Bee Removal | Indoor Wall Hive Removal and Insulation Replacement

Service Details

Late March calls in this area usually involve colonies that built up over winter, and this one was active inside a first floor interior wall. The bees were entering from an exterior gap higher up, but the main hive body was sitting high on an indoor wall cavity. After scanning with the infrared camera, I was able to see a clear heat signature between two studs near the upper section of the wall. The thermal photo made it easy to outline exactly where to open without cutting more than necessary. Since the hive mass was closer to the interior drywall and easier to access from inside, I opened the wall from the room side. Once exposed, the comb was fully attached to the stud bay. I used the bee vacuum to collect the bees into transport boxes for relocation and then removed all comb sections by hand. The insulation in that cavity was saturated and had to be removed completely to prevent odor and future swarm attraction. After clearing the cavity, I cleaned residual wax and sealed visible entry gaps. New insulation was installed in the stud bay and the wall was closed back up. The structure is secure again and ready for finishing work. Some straggler bees may continue to show up briefly, which is typical after live removals.
