Service Details

This late September job involved a honey bee hive built into the soffit on the first floor, tucked tight against a wooden beam. Bee traffic was steady but localized, which usually points to a contained cavity. Thermal imaging produced a clean, well defined heat pattern that clearly showed the size and position of the hive, making it easier to plan the opening without cutting into unnecessary areas. Once access was opened, a bee vacuum was used to control active bees while the cavity was exposed. The hive was fully attached along the beam and surrounding structure, so removal was done carefully to avoid spreading residue deeper into the soffit. All comb was taken out by hand after the bulk of the bees were removed. The cavity was then cleaned to reduce the chance of bees returning to the same spot. After removal, repairs were completed to close the soffit and restore the exterior surface. The opening was sealed back up around the beam to match the original structure. As expected, some bee activity lingered briefly while returning foragers adjusted, then continued to fade once the area was closed.
