Service Details

This job involved a large honey bee hive built into the soffit on the second floor. The activity pattern and steady traffic pointed to a long-established colony, so I focused on gaining clean access without widening the opening more than necessary. Once the soffit section was opened, the size of the hive was clear right away. It extended deeper than expected, with heavy comb packed tight against the framing. I used the bee vacuum to manage the adult bees while separating comb in stages. The brood comb was intact and healthy, so it was preserved and secured for relocation. The honey stores were excessive for the space and had started to sag under their own weight. Due to contamination risk and structural mess, a full bucket of honey comb had to be discarded. That step reduced dripping and allowed me to finish the removal without spreading residue inside the cavity. After the hive was cleared, I addressed the soffit repair from the exterior. The goal was to close the access point and restore the surface so it blended back in with the existing structure. The area was sealed and set up so it only needed minor finishing afterward. Bee traffic lingered for a while, which is normal with a colony this established, but the structure itself was cleared and stabilized by the time the job wrapped up.
