Bee Safe Bee Removal | Soffit Hive Removal and Exterior Repair

Service Details

Mid July jobs in Houston usually mean steady bee traffic, and this one was no different. The hive was built just below the soffit on the first story of the house. From the ground you could see consistent entry and exit activity along a small seam in the trim. I scanned the area with my infrared camera and got a strong thermal signature spreading between two joist bays. The heat pattern in the photo clearly outlined the main brood cluster, which helped me map out the exact section that needed to be opened. I removed the affected soffit panel carefully to expose the comb. The colony was established but still contained within that cavity. Using the bee vacuum, I collected the bees directly into transport boxes for relocation. Once the bees were cleared, I removed all visible comb and scraped down residual wax and propolis from the framing. Any remaining organic material can attract new swarms, so cleanup is just as important as removal. After that, I sealed the entry gaps, reinstalled new soffit material, and secured everything back into place. Structurally it is solid again. The exterior only needs paint to match the rest of the trim. There will still be a few returning bees for a short period, which is normal after a live removal, but the primary hive structure has been fully addressed.
