Service Details

This job took place in early November, when bee activity is usually slowing down but colonies can still be very active if they are well established. The hive was hanging directly from the soffit on the second floor and was completely exposed, which made assessment straightforward. There was no construction involved since the comb was fully visible from the outside, and access was clear using a ladder. Because of the height and open placement, controlling drifting bees and keeping them contained was the main consideration before starting removal. I set up the bee vacuum to safely collect the majority of the bees before handling the comb. The hive was well formed and clearly attached to the soffit surface, with no enclosure or wall void involved. As seen in the pictures, the exposure allowed for clean separation of the comb sections without cutting into the structure. Each section was removed carefully to reduce breakage and limit honey drip, which is especially important on elevated exterior work. Once the hive material was fully removed, I went back over the attachment area to clear remaining residue so it would not continue to attract returning bees. Some activity remained in the air afterward, which is normal with exposed hives, but the primary structure and colony were no longer present. The area was left stable and accessible for follow-up sealing if needed.
