Service Details

This job involved a honey bee hive built into the soffit of a first floor roofline. Activity was visible along the edge of the soffit, with bees entering and exiting from a small gap. In early August, bee traffic was heavy and consistent, which pointed to an established hive inside the cavity. Because of the location, all access was handled from the outside. Three beekeepers were sent to keep the work controlled and moving steadily. The soffit was opened from below, allowing direct access to the hive without disturbing interior spaces. A bee vacuum was used to manage flying bees as comb was exposed and removed. The hive material extended into the soffit cavity and surrounding insulation, so removal was done in sections to avoid leaving residue behind. Once the comb was cleared, the affected insulation was pulled out and replaced to remove scent and reduce the chance of future activity. After cleanup, the soffit was repaired and secured to match the existing structure. Seams were closed and checked for gaps that could allow re-entry. Before leaving, we monitored the area for remaining bee movement. Some lingering flight was still present, which is normal as foragers return and gradually disperse over time.
