I arrived at the property on July 15th after bees were reported entering beneath a roof tile on the second floor. From ground level, I could see steady flight activity concentrating at one point along the roofline. I accessed the area using a ladder and confirmed the hive was established directly below a roof tile, not inside a wall cavity. The colony was large and active, indicating it had been in place for some time. I carefully lifted the affected roof tile to expose the hive and assess its attachment point. A substantial amount of healthy honeycomb was present, firmly built against the roof decking. I used a bee vacuum to remove the bees in a controlled manner, keeping activity contained and preventing spread into adjacent sections of the roof. Once the bees were cleared, I removed the hive material to eliminate attractants that could draw future colonies to the same spot. At the customer’s request, the roof area was left open after removal, as they planned to handle the roof repair themselves. Before leaving, I confirmed there was no remaining bee activity around the opening and that surrounding tiles showed no additional entry points.
