Service Details

The call was for a honey bee hive built into a second floor wall, with activity showing along the exterior siding. Given the time of year in early October, the bees were active but manageable, and flight was steady throughout the day. The location made ladder access from the ground unsafe, so the plan was to approach from above. Three beekeepers were sent out to handle the height, the wall opening, and the volume of bees without cutting corners. Access was gained through the roof, working along the gutters of the first floor to reach the affected wall section. Once the siding was opened, comb was found running between studs. A bee vacuum was used to control active bees as sections of comb were removed in stages. Brood and honey were handled separately to keep the process organized and limit disruption. Activity stayed consistent during removal, which is typical for a wall hive at that height. After the hive material was removed, the wall cavity was cleaned of leftover wax and residue. The opening was then closed and repaired to restore the exterior and reduce the chance of future nesting. Before wrapping up, the area was checked for remaining bee movement. A small amount of flight remained, which is normal as returning foragers gradually clear out over time.
